I'm curious, what is your method? What kind of soaps/mitts/brushes/chamois do you use? Do you do wheels and tires first or last or as you go? Any special or unique things you do?

Hand wash soft sponge with soapy degreasing warm water.

Misting hose rinse with a clean soft sponge.

Squeegee most of the water off, spot check with a microfiber.

Go over with a waxing detailer and two more clean microfibers.

This goes for the Magnum and the SL alike. The wheels I use standard wheel cleaner, when I have a lot of time, I take the wheels off, when I don't have a lot of time, I just do the outside of the wheel.

Never forget to hand detail the door jams, rockers, and get inside the wheel well.

Never ever ever use tire shine stuff, just sprays all over your freshly detailed ride on the first few drives, not worth the bother.

Yeah I stopped using that tire shine crap a long time ago. Looks good for about a day, then it's just a dirt magnet.

I start with pressure washing all the dirt off. My pressure washer has a soap option so I use that as well. Basically, water-soap-water with the pressure washer. Then I pull out the bucket with the Meguire's or whatever it's called soap and the sponge. Wash the whole car again. Then go to town on the rims and tires. After all is said and done, I use the tire shiner wipes on...well...the tires. Then I use glass cleaner on the inside and outside of the windows. Lastly, take the car for a quick drive to dry it off. I haven't had a chance to wash any of the cars yet due to the fact that it's been, at most, 12 degrees for the last couple weeks.

Winter: Every week or so pull up to spray your own car place (inside) pay $4 turn to rinse and blast as much salt off as possible. Takes 4 minutes. I used to do full washes in winter...but it just wasn't worth it, the car gets so dirty so quickly you get 99% of the benefit just spraying all the salt off in the winter.

Summer: No house no hose...not sure yet. But I will take hours to do it don't you worry.

I do the two bucket method with a cheap mitt. I've been using a Meguiars wash that seems to do a good job. I use the left over soap and water for my wheels and tires. I've got a soft brush to do the wheels, a small detailing brush to get between the spokes, and a rough brush for the rubber. I squeegee most of the water off the body after then go over it with a chamois.

My commuter Honda almost never gets washed. The garage I park in for work most of the time has a rental return area with a hose and nobody is ever there so I hose it down sometimes. My 300D and my 240z are hand washed because machines get water in the doors and blow too hard. I go to a hand wash place and uses a big two sided sponge, wheel brush etc and dry them with those miracle absorbant towels. I do rinse with the gun but I can control it so I avoid any issues. One seal around my merc windows isn't available so high pressure gets through, the z for sure, best to keep anything on a Datsun dry if you can, I've done a lot of work but its not going to be perfect without tearing the car down.

The better ones that don't gloss them help with UV damage and I think help them from drying out. Seems like it on my comuter car which gets punished, I keep good Michelin X on it but SF has bumpy streets and crazy stuff going on.

i generally don't.

i've washed my Lancer , once in 4 years.

but as we don't have snow / salt spread on roads , no real need.
